"Reviving the Islamic Spirit" convention is an attempt by the young Muslims in the West to help overcome new challenges of communication and integration. The convention aims to promote stronger ties within North American society through reviving the Islamic tradition of education, tolerance and introspection across cultural lines through points of commonality and respect. Furthermore, the convention will be a celebration of our North American identity and Islamic faith. To help attain these ideals, the convention continues to feature a wide range of voices from various parts of the world.
We hope that through RIS events we would be able to provide a common platform to express our concerns as well as an opportunity to bring a joint effort involving various National and Local organizations. We wish to also provide an inclusive effort, which showcases stronger ties with our society and work together on our common objectives of providing a moral, just and peaceful society. It is our hope that through conventions and programs like these, we will be able to define normative Islam in the West. Through this website, we are committed to sharing the many year's of inspiring and educational lectures that have been delivered at the RIS Conventions and programs. These lectures can be viewed for free and shared with friends and family. We are committed to releasing lectures on a regular interval so that you can consistently benefit from the many great talks given at our programs.
We encourage your participation by sharing your comments on the videos and help create online discourse on ideas shared by the speakers and hopefully inspire a positive change. HISTORY Reviving the Islamic Spirit Convention has been successfully hosted in Toronto for the last ten years. With its warm reception at the first convention in January 2003, to its record attendance and a FIrst time 'Sold Out' Event in 2012, the RIS Convention has become the talk of the continent. RIS has been hosted at prestigious venues in Toronto, like the Rogers Centre (formerly known as Skydome) and National Trade Centre (now known as Direct Energy Centre), till it found it's home at Canada's largest Convention Centre, MTCC, located in Downtown Toronto. In May 2010, RIS launched its first convention in US, attracting a record breaking audience in Long Beach, California. We hope to continue bringing programs to communities across the globe through Live Events and through this site, so that those living in distant lands can be inspired by the ideas shared at RIS, God Willing!
